Use less for less waste: this is how you can help the environment while reducing expenses

In recent decades, improperly organized, and in many cases irresponsible, plastic waste management has become an increasingly serious problem worldwide, and this situation has only been exacerbated by the increased use of packaging materials during the coronavirus pandemic. The problem is widely discussed in the public, but in order for something to really change on a global level, everyone must first start making changes in their own company. In our article, you will learn what specific steps Manupackaging Hungary can take to make your company’s operations more environmentally friendly while also saving money.
Problem and solution
The solution to environmental problems caused by plastic waste can essentially be organized around three basic pillars: the development of collection and recycling structures, reduced plastic use, and the use of environmentally friendly plastics. In the latter two areas, Manupackaging Hungary can help its partners committed to sustainability reduce their ecological footprint, while saving money.
Case Studies
And how this is actually achieved can be seen in the following case studies, which report on the successes of partner companies where the change has already begun: thanks to Manupackaging’s optimization solutions, these companies now produce significantly (on average 50-70%) less plastic waste, with similar or even better stack stability than before, and last but not least, more economical operation. Together with them, we are saving the planet from the unnecessary use and waste of 2,000 tons of packaging material in Hungary every year!
Bottling company:
“Our liquid bottling partner entrusted us with the optimization of the packaging process, in which we only performed a professional adjustment of the machines and replaced the conventional foil used until then with a foil of our own production (since there was no budget available for machine investment). We still managed to reduce the amount of foil needed to package one pallet from 1.3 kg to 350 grams.”
Packaging material savings: 73%. Cost savings: 61%.
Canning manufacturer:
“We developed a stretch wrapping machine tailored to the individual needs of our canning partner, which, in addition to using our own film, reduced the amount of film used per pallet from 736 grams to 220 grams. The investment thus paid off in just 2.3 months.”
Packaging material savings: 70%. Cost savings: 66%.
Pharmaceutical industry:
“At our pharmaceutical partner’s site, goods arriving in large packages are repackaged into smaller packages. The goal of our assignment was to improve the cost-effectiveness of the packaging process as much as possible while maintaining stack stability. The success of the mission is proven by the fact that 2 tons less packaging material is currently used at the site per year, and the amount spent on purchasing the two machines paid for itself in just one and a half years.”
Packaging material savings: 54%. Cost savings: 46%.
Agriculture:
“Our German-owned partner company bales more than 10,000 premium quality straws per year for horse breeders, and with such a large quantity, even the smallest detail in the packaging can be significant. With our own premium quality packaging material and our “low profile” semi-automatic stretch wrapping machine that perfectly matches the existing working conditions, we achieved two tons of material savings per year, thanks to which the investment paid off within just one year.”
Packaging material savings: 88%. Cost savings: 85%.
Product development
Manupackaging Hungary also pays special attention to the development of circular economy, degradable and biodegradable products. Our self-developed Manunature stretch film is the first packaging film on the market that is both biodegradable and recyclable, meaning that if it does not return to the cycle, it will decompose into organic materials when released into nature.
